MBS Scholarship Application 

Scholarship Process:  Scholarship for Agriculture, Food Science, or Culinary Arts

Scholarship Pool:   $1,000.00 for scholarship/scholarships

Eligibility Criteria:

1. Applicant shall be a Child or Grandchild of a current MBS Member in good standing.

2. Academic Performance**: Maintain a B average (3.0) or better in grades.

3. Grade Level**: Must be a senior in high school during the current academic year or college student currently enrolled in field of Study stated below.

4. Field of Study**: Intending to pursue higher education in one of the following fields:

    - Agriculture - Food Science - Culinary Arts

 

Application Requirements:

1. Essay: Write a 500-word essay explaining your interest in your chosen field of study (agriculture, food science, or culinary arts). The essay should articulate your passion, goals, and how you plan to contribute to the field in the future.

2. Volunteering experience: Please list volunteer experience and what you have learned from those experiences.

3.Transcript**: Submit an official transcript showing your grades and academic standing.

4. Letters of Recommendation: Provide 2 letters of recommendation. Letters may be from teacher or coach, employer, religious leader, volunteer supervisor, or other individual (who is not a family member or relative) that can attest to your character, community contributions, academic achievements, and/or potential in your chosen field.  This letter MUST indicate what that person's relationship is to you (supervisor, teacher, clergy).

5. Personal Information: Include basic personal details such as your full name, contact information, high school name and address, and intended college or university.

 

Selection Process:

- A selection committee will review all complete applications based on the eligibility criteria and the quality of the essay.

- The committee will assess applicants based on their academic achievements, demonstrated interest in the field through the essay, and overall potential to succeed in higher education.

 

Application Deadline: December 1st, 2024

 

Notification:

- The recipient will be notified via email or phone by January 1, 2025

-Scholarship will be awarded at the Annual MBS Awards Banquet.

- The scholarship will be disbursed directly to the recipient's chosen college or university upon confirmation of enrollment.

 

How to Apply:

- Applicants must submit their application package electronically to scholarship@mnbbqsociety.com by December 1st, 2024.

- Incomplete applications or those received after the deadline will not be considered.

Additional Information:**

- The scholarship is a one-time award up to $1,000.00.

- Funds can be used towards tuition, fees, books, or other educational expenses at an accredited college or university.

- The scholarship recipient may be featured on our website or in promotional materials, with their permission.
