Minnesota BBQ Society Board of Directors Meeting

October 22, 2015, 6pm at Highlight Printing

 

In attendance: Dave Londeen, John Scharffbillig, Janelle Willard, Ross Bowen, Chuck Harding, Gary Harding, Don Bickford, Stan Dobosenski, Dan Maley, Nora Gallagher, Chuck Anderson-Webmaster

 

Meeting Called to Order: 6:03 pm

 

Website and Facebook: Chuck Anderson presented some analytics on the Society’s website. There was discussion on how to drive more people to the site.

Motion: Stan Dobosenski, 2nd: John Scharffbillig To allocate $50 budget for promoting posts on Facebook. Approved. Webmaster to advise which events will be promoted, he will pay and bill the Society.

Action Items: Add Calendar of Events and Approved Minutes to Website

 

Membership and Mailing Lists: Discussion on current membership numbers. General consensus is that we need to define our process and develop written procedures, roles and responsibilities. Once the process is defined, decisions on appropriate software to manage the system can be made.

Action Items: Membership Committee to meet, assess current situation and draft process document.

 

Team of the Year: Board is working with Brian Brandt to verify numbers and eligibility.

 

Board of Directors:  We will have two open positions on the Board of Directors. Terms ending are Chuck Harding and Gary Harding.  Janelle Willard will put together a message asking for members interested in serving on the Board.

 

Treasurer’s Report

 

Charitable Activities: Motion: Janelle Willard, 2nd : Chuck Harding- to donate $250 to St. Joseph’s Home for Children to purchase Raffle items for their Holiday event. Approved.

 

November/December Food Bank volunteer event is being organized- details to follow.

 

Upcoming Events:

 

Annual Banquet: Date is set for January 23, 2016 at Red Rossa Italian Grille at the Best Western Bloomington Hotel adjacent to Mall of America. Save the Date notices to be sent via email as well as posted on the Website. Final costs to be determined and sent to Board for ticket price determination. A Room Block of 12 will be set up at the Best Western for those who want to stay overnight.

Action Items: Establish ticket price, post Save the Date

 

Spring Training: April 9, 2016. Speakers will include  Dave Anderson of Famous Dave’s, and Dr. Jeff  Sindelar from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Agenda to be determined.

 

Judges/Table Captain’s Class: Date and location to be determined, trying to locate closer to Minneapolis/St. Paul to accommodate a different geographic area.

 

Minnesota in May contest: May 21, 2016 at the State Fairgrounds. Paperwork to secure the date has been sent to the Fairgrounds.
