Rose Festival BBQ

Location: State Center, IA
On June 13-16th, the State Center Community is hosting an Annual Rose Festival celebration, held since 1958. Along with tons of family fun activities and a variety of food vendors, People’s Choice BBQ entrants cook up some ribs in a friendly competition June 14th. Along with our 19th a Annual KCBS BBQ Competition, that has a $5,250 payout! The streets will be lined with local vendors, a car show, fun zones for kids, a parade, entertainment, fireworks, and a beautiful Rose Garden throughout the weekend.

All proceeds collected by the Rose Festival go back into the community and Rose Festival planning activities. We, residents of the local community, would like to invite you and your family & friends to come enjoy the festival and be a part of the community.

Bring’n Home the Bacon

Location: West Salem WI, Neshonoc Lakeside Camp

The 2019 BRING’N HOME THE BACON competition is a Master Series/State Championship contest sanctioned by the KCBS and will be held on June 22, 2019 at the Neshonoc Lakeside Camp – Resort, N5334 Neshonoc Road (Hwy 16), West Salem WI 54669.

To amplify our event, we have partnered with Neshonoc Lakeside Camp – Resort to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network. We will be selling tickets for a chance to win a Whitewater Drum Smoker (Thank you Dan and Randy) and possibility have a 50/50 drawing and a silent auction event. If you wish to contribute, please let us know – we greatly appreciate any help.

Bring’n Home the Bacon Master Series/State Championship. Winner gets an automatic invite to the American Royal Invitational and be put in the Jack Daniels draw.

2019 KCBS Certified Judges Class

Certified BBQ Judge Class Signup

Are you interested in judging BBQ competitions?

To become a Certified BBQ Judge (CBJ), just attend our class at the University of Minnesota Meat Science Lab on March 9th! In a half-day’s time, you’ll learn how to grade world-class chicken, pulled pork, ribs and brisket – and taste them during the process!

By the time you’re finished, you’ll be ready to sign up for the next competition in your area!

The class will be held March-9, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. and ending at 2 p.m.

Location: University of Minnesota Andrew Boss Laboratory of Meat Science

The Spring Training Workshop is our premier educational event, this year held on April 13th at the University of Minnesota. The Minnesota BBQ Society joins the U of M Meat Science department to provide a full day program. The workshop is packed with lectures and demonstrations provided by meat scientists, industry professionals, and Minnesota BBQ Society competitors.

For attendees, the workshop includes admission to the day’s events, as well as a binder full of all presentations, a continental breakfast, an AMAZING BBQ lunch, and refreshments during breaks along with product tastings. The entire program will take place in the Andrew Boss Laboratory of Meat Science on the St. Paul Campus of the University of Minnesota, main auditorium.

The Minnesota BBQ Society is an organization dedicated to the promotion and enhancement of the art of outdoor cooking. The way in which we do this is through educational opportunities and activities, for the casual backyard chef to competition cooks and professionals, all sharing the same passion.

Rotary Rock-N-Ribs BBQ Event

Rotary Rock-N-Ribs KCBS Judges Class

Date:  April 7, 2018

Location: Gopher State Sportsmen’s Club

The Rotary Rock-n-Ribs will be hosting a Judge and Table Captain Classes on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the Gopher State Sportsmen’s Club, 970 Sportsmans Valley Road N, La Crescent MN 55947.

Sign in for Judge Classes will be between 9:00 to 10:00 am, class starts at 10:00 am and ends about 2:00 pm.  The cost for the class is $70.00 for KCBS members in good standing or for non-members, $115.00 including a one-year membership to KCBS.  Judges will be tasting chicken, ribs, pork and brisket during the class.

Sign in for the Table Captain Class will be around 2:15 pm and class starting at 2:30 pm and ending about 4:30 pm.  The cost for this class is $60.00 for KCBS members.  If you take the KCBS Judges class on April 7th you will receive a KCBS membership and will be eligible to take the Table Captain class.

If you answered YES, then COME AND JOIN the Backyard BBQ Cooking Class presented by Hogline BBQ and Rotary Rock N Ribs on Saturday, March 17th from 7:30 am until 3:00 pm in La Crosse, WI. If you attend, your name will be put in a drawing for a chance to win a free Rotary RocknRibs Backyard Competition entry for June 23rd. We Invite You to Join Us Saturday, September 15, 2018 for the 13th Annual
Smokin’ Hot BBQ Challenge & 45th Annual Nisswa Fall Festival Celebration

Please complete the attached application form (below) and send it back to us for your entry into the 13th Annual Nisswa Smokin’ Hot BBQ Challenge. We really hope you’ll join us! Enclosed is a sample schedule for the day and as you can see, we have lots of things going on during the Fall Festival, starting off with the Pancake Breakfast and RUN for HOPE 5K/10K run then KIDZONE opens for tons fun for the kids, followed with live outdoor music and of course – the BBQ CONTEST!
You’ll see on your BBQ application that you may pre-pay for the Pancake Breakfast. The regular cost for the Pancake Breakfast is $8 per person. BBQ competitors may pre-pay and get the Pancake Breakfast for just $5 per person. You don’t have to pre-pay, you can decide the morning of the contest, but if it works better for you to take care of it all at once; we’re giving you that option!
You also have the option to pre-pay for VIP BBQ tickets. For $30 per person you will get the VIP Package (see enclosed flyer for details). If you like, you may order it all at one time and return with your completed BBQ Entry Form.
